YOU CAN ONLY BE DISCRIMINATED IF YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE

Hello friends, how are you doing and how was the Easter celebration? Hope it was well utilised? Wow! It’s just few days to the ‘April Smiling/Happiness Challenge’ and I’m feeling really excited already. Yes today I’m writing on the topic ‘Discrimination’ and I really do hope that I will be helping someone out there. About a week ago, a friend of mine sent me a message that looks really serious on Whatsapp saying ‘Joy, we need to talk’. I was really curious so I told her I’m all ears. Then she started the conversation by throwing a question at me ‘Are you going back for HND or you are going for Direct Entry into the university?’ she asked. I smiled and then told her that I’m going back for my HND. I couldn’t stop laughing when she said ‘I’m really fed up because the discrimination for HND holders is really much here in Nigeria’. She was surprised and felt a bit embarrassed because she couldn’t believe I was laughing at something that is really giving her a big concern. Seeing h

Inspiring Story: Ducks- Quack,Eagles-Soar

I received this story this morning, it came in so timely and thought i should share  ... Enjoy Good article ....... I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport, when a cab pulled up;the first thing i noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine, smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie and freshly pressed black slacks. The cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me. He handed me a laminated card and said: I'm Wasiu,ur driver. While i'm loading ur bags in the trunk i'd like u to read my mission statement.' Taken aback,i read the card; It said: Wasiu's Mission Statement: 'To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment'. This blew me away. Especially when i noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean! As he slid behind the wheel, Wasiu said: 'Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and

WATCH OUT FOR ‘APRIL HAPPINESS/SMILING CHALLENGE’

Hello friends, how was your weekend? Mine was stressful and at the same time exciting. The events in the country these days have led to some personal damages. Almost everybody is angry and therefore cannot even afford to smile. Federal workers and state workers are not left out as they are the major victim of whatever change is said to be going on in the country. Some days ago I came to discover that this unhappy/anger bug has really spread even to some special people who cannot do but smile and infect people around them with their smiles. The smiles suddenly disappeared and what is left on their face is wrinkles maybe from excess thinking, discouragement or anger.  It didn’t occur to me at first that I was also getting infected by this bug until somebody called my attention to it. I just noticed some lively parts of me were no longer active and I was thinking it would pass with time. I no longer smile like I used to. People no longer say ‘Joy, you are so funny. Thanks for mak

ACHIEVING STARTS WITH BELIEVING

T. G. I. F!!!!!!!! Hello Friends, how are you doing? I hope your week has been productive and wonderful? I’m so excited because today is Friday and I really can’t wait to relieve myself of work and explore the weekend. Well, today, I’m going to be talking about believing in yourself because it has been discovered that the major thing that stands between us and our achievement is the amount of trust we have in ourselves. If we don’t believe that we have the capacity to achieve something even if it’s attached with challenges, then we won’t achieve it. What you think is what you are. You already have been blessed with what you need to create your future. The most important thing is to never stop believing in yourself because the moment you do, it might be difficult for you to achieve your goals.   So never let what you think you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do because what you can do now is the only influence you have over your future. Before you start anything, yo

WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPRESS?

Hello friends, how was your weekend? Hope you had fun? Mine was adventurous all through . I was opportune to notice some funny, annoying and amazing scenarios during the weekend and one of the scenarios I took cognisance of was this thing about people going extra length to impress others. I couldn’t stop but wonder how fake living has become the norms and order of the day. I really discovered that the greatest prison people live in is the fear of what others think about them. The only impression that I think we should all try to make, is a good impression. Say things that impress people, make a contribution that impress people, and do things that impress people only in a sincere way. When you have to lie or paint a fake picture about you, then you are making a wrong impression.  Some people try very hard to impress others but in the bargain, lose their own identity. Stop wasting your time and energy trying to impress others; you will always be the one at the losing end. You ou

POEM: I’M ME. I’M NOT BORN TO IMPRESS OTHERS

I’m only me. That is all I can be. No more, no less, so don’t second guess. I love, I wish, I laugh. Some days I’m funny, others I’m not   I’ve been frustrated so much that I’ve wished sometimes that I could die. Sometimes I’m in overdrive and I can’t stop and sometimes I’m as slow and steady as a snail. You may not like me but that’s okay because that’s me and how I will stay So don’t expect that I’ll one day change for you. I’m only me so what you think of me doesn’t matter The only person I’m oblige to please is God my creator I may be weird and be a talkative, but it shouldn’t bother you It is who I’m and how I’m created so no need to impress you I do what I love and love what I do. Your opinion isn’t needed You either accept me the way I’m or excuse me and go your way After all I wasn’t born to impress anyone but myself and God.   I’m only me so I don’t care about Criticisers or critics I’m happy to be me. I may not be perfect but I’m at le

GO LEARN THE WAYS OF THE ANTS. YOU WILL FIND GREAT WISDOM.

‘Go to the ants, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summers and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?’ (Proverbs 6:6-9). The Ant is one of the smallest insect that exist and as smallest as it is, it is the most hardworking. You want to learn great wisdom and how to survive life challenges? Go to the ants. I read a story in magazine about a lady who gave up on her job haunt having searched for job but to no avail. She stop looking for job and decided to stay at home until an offer come for her from the few places she has been interviewed. She stayed home all day, cook for her siblings and pass the day either watching movies or playing games on her phone. She was in the sitting room one day, playing a game on her phone as usual when she suddenly remembered that she had to cook lunch before her siblings comes back from schoo

I WON’T MARRY A WOMAN WHO LACKS VISION

I saw this very short post on Facebook written by a man and I was like Wow! Like seriously? I can’t believe that there are still some men who appreciate women and believe that their place shouldn’t be limited to the kitchen and house chores alone. I really love the post and I decided to share it on my blog having sought the author’s permission though. Read and comment with your views. I won’t marry the kind of woman who sees getting married to me as her only channel of relevance. A woman who lacks any personal vision except marriage. Any woman who doesn’t have personal ambition apart from marriage is a liability, a burden. Because all they live for is to depend on men and please them too. Women were made to be great too. Marriage doesn’t amount to the value of a woman. God didn’t create you just to date, eat fried rice, marry and produce babies. You have a purpose aside all those things.   By Solomon Franklin Buchi Bartholomew
