THE GIFT OF A SMILE

Yes, I’m at it again. You should know that my pen is ever ready to share and today I’m letting you in on a little secret to a more successful and happy life; “the gift of a smile”.
Gifts are good and everybody loves to receive one. Gifts have a way of adding color to our day and lubricating our relationships. However not too many people give gifts, especially the inexpensive gift of a smile. Most of us are caught up in our busy schedules that we put on an “I don’t care attitude” as we ignore obvious pains and mind our businesses. Well, as believers, our God expects more from us. He desires from us a life of impact and compassion so we cannot but care.

More so, life is about value exchange. Whatsoever you give you get in increased measure. When we add value to others, we receive the same value in 100 folds.  So when you give a smile, you enrich yourself. In fact when you give a smile often, you increase your chances of living longer, being more productive and looking younger.
Not only will a genuine concern for others and healthy interpersonal relationships rid us of the negative energy that impedes progress, it will also increase our chances of a better life. With every smile we gift comes endless possibilities.
One of my favorite routine every day is teasing and playing jokes with people around me including my friends on social networks. I derive fulfillment and inner refreshment from such interactions. You can enjoy the same. Tell a joke; create an aura of fun and excitement around you. Let hearts yearn for your company, it makes outreach easier. Be a source of life, be a light. Remember God so loves us he gave Jesus, if you love as He expects you to you’ll be a giver. I beseech you to start small by putting a smile on someone’s face today and every day.

2016 Review: Voke Ogedegbe: 2016, My Blessings And Lessons So Far

2016 would forever become a memory in a matter of hours.  Before it rolls away, I want to talk about my year 2016. I entered 2016 oblivious of the fact it was a new year,  this,  was,  consequence of a terrible breakup I had in the October of the previous year.  The tears and pain that came with my broken relationship saw me through the first two months of the year and one morning in the month of March,  I woke up,  looked into the mirror,  told myself I was beautiful and I deserved more! I really think, the old witch in my village had dropped my picture to use another she fancied more than mine to fan her bosom and that's the only reasonable explanation as to how I received sense that morning. For the first few months of 2016, I laughed,  sometimes,  too hard. This was an attempt to mask my pain,  I put up a nice show - I should be an actress, I even deserve an Oscar. I didn't want the world to know my pain, I didn't want them ...

A STORY...(TOUCHING): NEVER HOLD ON TO OFFENCES

Just two years after our marriage, my husband brought up the idea of asking his Mother to move from the rural hometown and spend her remaining years with us. His father passed away while he was still very young. His mum endured much hardship and struggled all on her own to provide for him, see him through to the university. You could say that she suffered a great deal and did everything you could expect or imagine of a woman to bring hubby to where he is today. I immediately agreed and started preparing the spare room, which has a balcony facing the South to let her enjoy the sunshine and plant greenery. Hubby stood in the bright room, and suddenly, he lifted me up and started spinning round and round. As I begged him to put me down, he said: “Lets go fetch mother”. Hubby is tall and big sized and I love to rest my head on his chest and enjoy the feeling that he could pick me up at any moment, put me as smallish as I am into his pocket. Whenever we have an argument and one of us ref...

Inspirational: One Day

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle.   It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.' I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.   As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.’ They really should get lives. 'He looked at me and said, 'Hey th...
