If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but have not love, I am
only a resounding gong or a clanging symbol. If I have the gift of prophecy and
can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move
mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I posses to the poor
and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is
patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It
is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no
record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It
always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never
fails. (1Corinthians 13:1-8)
Love is a force that connects us to every strand of
the universe, an unconditional state that characterises human nature, a form of
knowledge that is always there for us if only we can open ourselves to it. ‘Love begins at home and it is not how much we do, but
how much love we put in that action’. (Mother Theresa).
There are several wounds inflicted on people that time will never heal. The only thing that heals all wound no matter how deep and painful, is love. Love does not only heal it, it heals it faster and better.

‘I expect to pass
through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness
or abilities that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me
not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again’ (William Pawn). Out of all
the virtues, the greatest is love. Until we take how we see ourselves and how
we see others into account, we will be unable to understand how others see and
feel about themselves and their world. This can however only be achieved with
love. Have you one day stop and ask yourself, ‘why do I take by force that
which I can obtain by love?’ When we are motivated by goals that have deep
meanings, by dreams that need completion and by pure love that needs
expressing, then we truly live life. I cannot stop but wonder what this world
would have been like if some people had not made some sacrifices borne out of
love. When you truly love, then you truly live. No matter how much effort and
how much energy you put into a course, it might likely not work if you don’t
love what you are doing. Love conquers all things. Even the most stubborn and
hardened heart can be won over by pure and genuine love. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love
does not know God because God is love (1John 4:7-8).
There is no fear in love. But perfect love
drives out fear, because fear has to with punishment. The one who fears is not
made perfect in love (1John 4:18). We have no love when
we cannot help out our fellow men in need when we have the capacity to do so.
Some people are so selfish that the only thing they have is money. Have
compassion. Be kind. It will only cost you material things and things that you
were given freely. You truly express genuine love when you not only show it to
your friends but to people who you find it so difficult to love. Showing love
with no strings attached and without expecting anything in return is the
greatest love you can express as a human. This is because as humans, we have
this attitude of showing love only to those we care about and those close to
us. Extend your love even to your enemies, and people who least deserve it. You
never can tell what your heart of kindness can get you.
This is how God showed
His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might
live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so
loved us, we ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we
love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us (1John
4:9-12). When you don’t love, you are not of God but of the devil. If anyone
has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him,
how can the love of God be in him? (1John 3:17). A
love that however does not cost you anything is no love for true love will
obviously cost you more than you bargained for. Love is the greatest gift you
can give to anybody. Tolerance and
celebrations of individual differences is the fire that fuels lasting love.....
